My hair is impossible to care for between getting cornrows... help?

I want to know if i should get a texturizer or something that won't make my hair completely flat, and feminine(i'm a guy).... i only wear my hair like this for 2-3 days before getting cornrowed... my hair comes below my eyes when i pull it down from above my forehead...

Also i tried blowdrying it... its impossible to comb through except when it wet then it "goes back" to being 10x nappier than before haha.

well i'm asking if there are anything out there that doesnt wear off after 2-3 weeks that makes hair easier to manage/comb/pick and even braid. Anything that makes it easier to manage without making it flat.

P.S. i know Allen Iverson has a secret to keeping his braids fresh without going through hell between braidings..

A good solid conditioning will not only will strengthen your hair, and keep it healthy, but it will also make it easier to manage between braiding's.
