I've heard plastic and metal ones are bad for your hair cos it breaks it. Also wide tooth is supposedly best as it doesn't pull the hair. Only other options are wood or rubber? Any ideas?

try and find a local hairdressing supplies shop and visit them and ask for a ceramic coated comb, its glides through the hair and when used with straightners the difference is amazing .... check it out if you dont believe me xx

A wide tooth comb is good and it dosen't matter what its made of. Just make sure your hair is well conditioned after you shampoo and never pull or yank on the hair when combing it, if you get a lot of snarling use a detangler.

I cant see how a plasic or metal comb would break unless you use unnecessary effort to comb your hair or try to comb a wiry haired dog. If your hair is the thick type but hangs loosely but gets blown about by the wind....use a strong plastic comb with wide teeth and finish with a narrow tooth one. the same could be said with some hair brushes. There are ones with fibre hair....and ones with nylon bristles. The only types that I have seen girls is when they use toddlers combs and brushes.
