Do those combs that claim to trim and eliminate animals hair shedding less really work? Or am i better off just to buy a regular brush? Also How often should they be brushed?

Well, there are some who claim the Furminator is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm not one of them....
I had a "furmination" done at the groomers and I didn't see any difference between that and the regular grooming. So I won't spend $40 or whatever on this special brush/comb.
I use a flea comb which is excellent at getting to the undercoat especially in my long hair. I also use a regular old wire bristle brush on a regular basis.
I think these less expensive implements do a fine job.

There's specific brushes for cats and dogs. They won't stop the animal from shedding, but it will be that much less hair around you and your house that ends up on the brush. Plus I'm sure once used to it, they'll love getting brushed.

The ones that you get that help to eliminate shedding stimulate the hair follicle and cause the hair to grow slower, but won't eliminate it entirely, just less. It really just depends on how often you want to brush your pet.
Save your money and get a normal brush, and just do it every couple of days.

Those brushes basically remove any loose hair that is still on the dog / cat. They just seem to work because with that loose hair gone they shed less. So when they shed new hair which is constantly you will have to brush them again. and again and again.

I bought a cat brush for about $15 at the vet and it seems to help with shedding but to elimate it all together?? Not very possible. I brush my cats once a week or so, however often they'll let me. If they're in the mood they actually enjoy it...
Combs to keep animals from shedding?
You can't stop animals shedding. (Is that US English for moulting?) Regular grooming with a comb or brush suitable for the animal in question just reduces the amount of hair which ends up on the floor and has to be vacuumed up. For long-haired animals it's best to groom them once a day.

Me and my wife bought 2 different size brushes, If you look at the bristles they look like an upside down 7.They work well on our cats and our blue heeler. It doesn't stop shedding but it does help in keeping the house from looking hairy. We try and groom them once a week and it doesn't take long to do it( our cats will wait in line for their turn to get brushed). And if you have a long haired dog that stays outside it will help keep them cooler in the summer time.
